BIOGRAFIA:

Marieke van der Pol (1953) graduated in 1979 at the Amsterdam Drama School and worked as an actress since then. In 1992 she started screenwriting. She wrote for existing tv-series and co-developed new series, and gradually she moved to writing feature films. In 2003, her adaptation of the novel TWIN SISTERS by Tessa de Loo, was nominated for the Golden Calf for Best Screenplay and won Best Film. In 2004 the film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film (Oscar Nominee). In 2007 her novel BRUIDSVLUCHT was published. In 2008 the film BRIDE FLIGHT followed, for which she wrote the script. Both novel and film were very successful, the novel won the Academica Debutantenprijs 2007/2008 and was a bestseller in The Netherlands and Germany. The films UPSTREAM (2009 Audience Award) and ISABELLE followed. In 2012 her novel VOETLICHT was published. In 2018, the film THE RESISTANCE BANKER was released and nominated for Best Screenplay at the Dutch Film Festival, where it won Best Film.
